PINEAPPLE: A DISCOVERY OF TASTE
It was Christopher Columbus, in the 15th century, who was the first to discover the delicious and innovative flavor of pineapple on the volcanic island of Guadalupe, in the Caribbean Sea. At first glance, the unknown fruit seemed to all intents and purposes a large pine cone, for this reason the famous Italian explorer baptized it “piña”, the Spanish name from which the English version “pineapple” derives.
